Which should come as no surprise given how, shall we say, enveloping her debut novel, Juliet Takes a Breath, makes you feel. I remember the first time we ever spoke - she made me feel like a friend. A Bronx native who went on to attend Goucher College and then write for Marvel comics, Rivera is a strong voice for queer activism, serving as a youth mentor through her work as the youth programs manager at GLSEN.
